Pierce Brown

The American novelist who wrote the Red Rising saga. He sold his first book in his twenties after writing several that didn't sell, and he has been quite open about the long struggle behind that overnight success.

His books are a mixture of Roman history, military science fiction and Greek tragedy, delivered in a first-person voice of unusual momentum. Red Rising was published in 2014, and the final volume is yet to come.

Red Rising was published by Del Rey in 2014 and became a bestseller. Brown announced a sequel series in 2016. Iron Gold (2018) picked the story up ten years on in the saga's own time, with several points of view and a far wider war.
