Kavax au Telemanus
A vast and magnificent patriarch, who's very fond of his fox and his family and who is the most dependable friend in the entire saga.
He's gravely wounded in the The Syndicate's attack on the children, which his house was guarding.
He survives the flight from Luna, and goes on.
His favourite fox is called Sophocles, red-gold and sharp-eared, and he feeds it jelly beans by hand.
Kavax is the rare Gold who loves his children out loud. He carries his pet fox through the halls of power, laughs at his own jokes and means every oath he swears. In a story full of cunning, his plain decency has a tactical value that his enemies never quite learn to price.
