The Society's programmers and information specialists. They tend the networks that let the Golds see everything.

Darrow first sees them as a camera crew filming a flogging, and he calls them tiny next to Obsidians.

Greens write the code the Society runs on: surveillance networks, shipboard systems, financial ledgers. The Golds need them badly and tend to find them distasteful. A Green with a grudge is a very real threat in a civilisation whose walls and doors all listen to software.
