Violet
Musicians, designers, actors and fleshcarvers. They create beauty on commission, and are permitted a degree of eccentricity unavailable elsewhere.
The great carvers can do almost anything to a human body. Mickey is the one who matters most to this story. See Carving.
Mickey has twelve fingers, because Carvers modify themselves as well as their clients.
Violets are what the Society shows off. Mickey, the Carver who remakes Darrow, is the saga's most important example: a man of real genius who is treated as a clever pet. Artists sit very low in the eyes of those who collect them.
