Lysander au Lune

the Lightbringer

A courteous, watchful, very clever boy, heir to all of humanity, who gets taken from his grandmother by people who want to use him and goes on being polite.

Lysander is the saga's slowest catastrophe. Readers meet him as a child, and for a long time it's quite easy to like him. He has the look of a redemption, and the characters round him think so too.

Mustang and Sevro kidnap him; Tactus gives him back.

He watches Darrow kill his grandmother and sends the The Ash Lord after Lilath in the last hours of the war. Cassius takes him away and gives him a new life.

A wanderer with Cassius, he is thrown into the politics of the The Rim. He betrays Gaia in exchange for the alliance that will change the war. He chooses to come back to the fight, with a very clear sense of whose fault everything is.

He kills Alexandar and raises Heliopolis in revolt, defeating the Reaper's forces with a popular rising and an EMP strike. He becomes the saviour of Mercury and agrees to marry Atalantia.

His star rises while his moral centre goes on being subtracted from. He names his ship the Lightbringer (ship), takes Phobos, and is poisoned. In the end he helps kill Atlas, murders the man who raised him, and takes for himself a virus able to wipe out a single Color. He then bombs the peace summit at Io and sails off, deciding which Color he will use it on first.
